Lecture series to focus on impact of human migration

Thursday, September 12, 2013

LAWRENCE — The departments of anthropology and Latin American and Caribbean studies are launching a new lecture series on human migration.

“Studying past human migration is critical for understanding the effects of global warming and its influence on people’s migration patterns,” said Professor Michael Crawford, developer of new lecture series.

Since 1969, Crawford has been researching and closely examining crucial migratory influences on large populations. The series will include information from leading thinkers in the field of human migration in order to better understand and further explore the multidimensional process of human migration.

The next segment of the series is at noon Friday, Sept. 20, in the Pine Room at the Kansas Union. The lectures will continue on alternate Fridays during the fall and spring semesters.
