  21. Evenks of Siberia, summer, 1989. A survey was conducted for research with indigenous populations of Siberia. An agreement was signed with the Soviet Academy of Sciences, under the Human Genome Diversity Program, to survey DNA markers of the various indigenous tribes.
  22. The effects of population subdivision through the caste system on the genetic structure of Indian populations. Fieldwork was conducted while on a Fulbright Fellowship, December/ January, 1990-1 in two sites in Andhra Pradesh, India.
  23. Field research with two populations of reindeer-herding Evenki from Surinda and Poligus. DNA extracted and the variation was compared with Amerindian RFLPs. 1991-3, sponsored by NSF.
  24. Field research in Siberia, Altai, (Mindar-Sokkon) on Turkic-speaking populations in which the 9 bp mt-DNA deletion has been reported.  Summer, 1993.   This was a collaborative program with the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
