Biography

My research investigates how indigenous people organize their economic lives and articulate their identifications as they confront the effects of globalization. My specific areas of interest include the effects of uneven development, the intersection of gender and indigeneity, and the place of women in the economy. My dissertation examines Ch’orti’ Maya people build meaningful lives for themselves as they encounter differentiated opportunities and limitations in the market economy.
